The international meeting of Portuguese Association for Evolutionary Biology (ENBE) is an annual meeting that aims to bring together Evolutionary Biologists working in Portugal and abroad in order to promote scientific cohesion and excellence. This meeting is a forum for scientists of all academic levels (from master students to principal investigators), to present their work and discuss, fostering new ideas and collaborations. We invite researchers from all over the world to participate and submit their work.

This year the meeting will take place online, between Thursday and Friday afternoon, the 16th and 17th of December. We will also have a public round table to discuss evolution and pandemics.

The program is already available, and participants have already been informed about the abstracts selected by the scientific committee for the talk and poster sessions. Students (MSc, PhD) presenting their work are eligible for the APBE awards for the best oral and poster presentation.

Please don’t forget to register until 10th December.

We will also have an open session to discuss the evolutionof SARS-CoV-2 and pandemics. Isabel Gordo (IGC), Manuel Carmo Gomes (FCUL), and Thiago Carvalho (EMBO) will debate what is already known about the SARS-CoV-2 virus and how it is evolving, chaired by Filipa Vala (PlanAPP, cE3c). Also with a discussion around the educational book The coronoviruses of animals and humans, presented by Margarida Duarte (INIAV). This session, AskmeCOVIDevolution, will be held in portuguese.
